The Parish of Wellow lies three miles south of the city of Bath and five miles north east of Radstock, on the southern edge of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village lies on the Oolitic limestone belt which continues as the Cotswold Hills to the north. To the south west lies the Carboniferous limestone of The Mendip Hills. This area comprises rolling hills with small field enclosures and hedges. The settlement sits on the south facing valley terrace above Wellow Brook and most of the village is within the Conservation Area.

The village has a vibrant community with many groups and societies and could be said to constitute a quintessential English village in that there is a church, school, public house, village hall, community shop, community transport and of course the beautiful countryside. The special architectural and historic nature of Wellow makes it a fine place to live and visit alike.
